XBODY is excited to announce a new studio partnership in Queenstown, New Zealand, with a brand-new EMS training studio set to open later this year.
As part of our commitment to delivering the highest standard of EMS training, XBody Master Trainer Matt George recently travelled to Queenstown to personally train the new team through a two-day, face-to-face EMS Trainer Course.
While XBody offers a comprehensive online EMS training course, nothing compares to hands-on, practical training with experienced professionals. The online course provides an excellent foundation in theory, and we strongly recommend that participants complete it before attending face-to-face training. This allows the in-person course to focus more heavily on the practical elements of EMS technology, EMS suit application, client delivery, safety, coaching, and studio operations.
Following the initial training, XBody also recommends a further 4 to 8 weeks of practical experience to help trainers build confidence, improve their coaching ability, and become more familiar with the strength and effectiveness of the EMS stimulation.
At XBody, our priority is ensuring every partner studio has highly skilled, well-qualified trainers who can deliver safe and effective EMS training and help clients achieve outstanding results. We do not simply sell EMS equipment. We provide the training, support, education, and guidance needed to help each studio and team get off to the best possible start. We see every studio relationship as a true partnership.
Matt was thoroughly impressed with the Queenstown team and believes they are well positioned for great success. The participants were highly experienced fitness professionals who brought a wealth of knowledge across fitness, coaching, and client care. Even so, this was their first experience working with electrical muscle stimulation training, and they were genuinely amazed by the strength of the stimulation through the XBody EMS suits. They were also excited by the wide range of health, fitness, strength, and wellness applications that EMS training can offer to clients.
A great EMS trainer is usually someone with a strong background in fitness, coaching, and client communication. Qualified personal trainers, experienced fitness professionals, and those with strong life experience are often very well suited to EMS training.
The main target market for EMS is often adults over 40, so it can also be helpful when trainers understand the goals, challenges, and needs of that demographic. Many EMS clients are looking for efficient strength training, improved mobility, better body composition, injury support, or a more time-effective way to improve their health and fitness.
Personal trainers make excellent EMS trainers, but interestingly, group fitness instructors often have a natural advantage.
As Matt George explains:
“That ability to get up and engage with a group really stands out. A group fitness background generally means the trainer is used to cueing, correcting, motivating, and engaging with clients.”
It is also exciting to see each trainer bring their own unique background to EMS, whether that is Pilates, yoga, boxing, HIIT training, strength training, rehabilitation, or general fitness coaching. These different areas of expertise help create a more complete and engaging EMS training experience for clients.
While we cannot reveal too much just yet, the new Queenstown EMS studio will be a hybrid-style fitness studio, with EMS training as the main strength training modality. The studio will also offer an additional group fitness service, creating a well-rounded training environment for clients.
The new studio is expected to launch in the second half of 2026, and XBody is proud to be supporting the team as they prepare to bring high-quality EMS training in Queenstown to the local community.

Matt George has recently returned from New Zealand after visiting an existing XBody studio partner, EMS Training Dunedin, before travelling on to Queenstown to train the new team.
It was fantastic to visit Mike in Dunedin and see how he delivers such personalised EMS personal training to his clients. Mike operates from a studio room adjoining a large health club and gym, allowing him to train many clients in a boutique, private setting while also working with some clients on the larger gym floor.
Mike brings decades of experience in fitness, personal training, nutrition, and bodybuilding. His depth of knowledge and personalised approach are a great example of how EMS can be successfully integrated into different fitness business models.
XBody is proud to continue expanding across New Zealand and Australia, supporting studio owners, trainers, and fitness professionals with world-class EMS technology, EMS suits, EMS trainer education, and ongoing business support.
With experienced teams, strong training systems, and a genuine partnership approach, XBody is excited to help bring the benefits of electrical muscle stimulation training to even more clients across New Zealand.
